Anas Guermouj
Anas Guermouj is a young artist born in 1999 in Er-Rachidia, South Morocco. His approach to art is designed to convey a message that can be understood by as many people as possible. Anas is taking the opposite tack to academicism by choosing to illustrate everyday life in Morocco. His work indeed sheds light on artistic things we create during ordinary tasks without even noticing it. His practice is inspired by studying social behaviors in Morocco and the various graphic and idiomatic elements that one can find in local means of transportation. This urban poetry encompasses a set of references and codifications that convey iconic, aesthetic and literary messages. From this formal and conceptual repertoire, he creates a series of paintings, drawings, collages, installations and audio-visual productions.
Biography
Anas Germouj is a Moroccan artist born in 1999 in Er-Rachidia, in the South of Morocco. Interested by art since a young age, he discovers a lot of different techniques and then does a Baccalauréat with an option in Art in high school in Kenitra. He then enters the Fine Arts School of Tétouan and graduates in 2021.
